Roddey Hall: Overview

Roddey Hall is one of Winthrop University's residence halls. One thing that makes it unique is that it is actually a set of apartments, rather than the usual residence hall single-room set-ups.

Though I am writing posting this to inform you about Roddey Hall, I am mostly posting this to tell you that I have posted a video that will tell you all you should know about it. No need to thank me – I enjoyed making the video.

The first thing I’m sure you will notice about Roddey Hall is its beauty. My favorite part of putting this video slideshow together was collecting those pictures you’ll see in it. Even though it was overcast that day, you will enjoy Roddey’s scenery almost as much as I did.
Roddey has a beautiful view of Winthrop's
most well-known garden, Hardin Gardens

As I have narrated everything I learned about Roddey, you won’t have to read anything. Making that recording and patching it up was great, but I appreciated harvesting all of that information about the hall even more. Making the video gave me an excuse to do some digging and I have chronicled what I found in the video. You can just click here or the link below to check it out.

There are a few surprises. I won’t spoil the whole video for you, so don’t worry. All I am saying is that a few things about Roddey surprised me. I have been attending Winthrop University for a while, and I never knew some of this stuff.

For example, Roddey was renamed, so “Roddey Hall” was not its original name! You will find other things, like the building’s history and multiple renovations, most often for the sake of re-purposing, interesting as well.
